This week on “Her Table”, Kate and Megan had the pleasure of sitting down with Liron Fanan. Liron was recently promoted to General Manager of the Canton Charge, the G league team affiliate to the Cleveland Cavaliers. She graduated from NYU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Marketing and Sports Management. Liron is the first woman in Charge history to be named general manager, and the fourth in the NBA G League.
In this episode, Liron talks about all aspects of becoming and maintaining the prestigious job of professional basketball general manager. She explains how growing up surrounded with a family of basketball coaches and players led to her love of the game and her understanding of the business side of basketball. She took every role she was given as a learning opportunity and stepping stone to get her to where she is today. Liron takes Kate and Megan through her journey from feeling like the older intern to overcoming obstacles and barriers as an Israeli woman making her way through the ranks of a male dominated basketball world. She discusses the struggles she has encountered on the way and the sacrifices she has made to make her dream a reality.
